On July 5, Andhra Pradesh Goshala Federation headed by President Mahesh Agarwal has met the president of India Pratibha Devi Singh Patil and has requested to give financial assistance to the goshalas working for a noble cause.
A DELEGATION of Andhra Pradesh Goshala Federation headed by President Mahesh Agarwal met Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, the President of India at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad. Mahesh Agarwal has given the details about the functioning of various goshalas in Andhra Pradesh and asked the President of India to give financial assistance to the goshalas working for a noble cause.
Mahesh Agarwal told to the media that in Andhra Pradesh there are more than 100 goshalas and maintaining more than 24000 cows and its progeny. He asked the Central government to provide fodder and water to all the animals which are badly affected by the hot summer.
Construction of water troughs in rural area is needed at a mass level. He asked the endowment department to take responsibility of the cows belonging to farmers during the summer season.
He told that like other states, Andhra Pradesh also should constitute Andhra Pradesh ‘Go Sewa Ayog’ and allot funds from state budget and provide at least Rs 25 per animal per day grant to all goshalas. He requested to the state government to stop auction of cows and their progeny held by different government organisation and institutions and to stop illegal encroachment of gochar bhoomi (grazing land) and to develop grazing and fodder cultivation. He requested to the President of India to involve Andhra Pradesh Goshalala Federation in policy, planning and implementation of different government schemes for active role.
On this occasion he presented the project report giving details of the success stories of minimising the farmers’ suicide by using organic manure and compost.
P Anuradha, research scholar, Andhra University also presented a survey conducted on women elected representatives in the urban local bodies and at the grass root level and given her suggestions.
The other delegates include Dr R M Saboo, Srinivas Somani, president of Sarvodaya Vichar Parishad and Asha Devi Somani, editor of Ahalya montly magazine.
