APCSU led students in repairing a vital embankment on river
Today, a vital embankment on the Noa Dihing River at Dumpani stretch has been repaired and rebuilt by placing sand bags within the embankment section to avoid overflowing of the river waters in the nearby-inhabited areas during monsoon, and for the most part to make way for smooth public transportation.

The students of Dumpani and Dumpather middle schools were the main source of strength behind this noble deed. The embankment has been build under the active supervision and presence of Mr. Arunjit Chakma, organising secretary of APCSU, Amal Kumar Chakma, GB of Dumpather and Chandra Dwaj Chakma ( aka HUJU BOO), GB of Udaipur, Manrose Chakma, Joint secretary, APCSU and Santosh Kr Karbari from CDS. The keen students – from Class 6 to 8 standards – participated in the activity; and found it quite overwhelming and enthusiastic in the interest of better road connectivity for themselves, their families, and common people at large.

The government‘s recent indifference and apathy towards the Chakma populace due to negative political policies, kept them in total darkness and isolation in an attempt to alienate them: which led to the sorry state of socio-economic conditions of the people in the chakma inhabited villages; which are mostly in remorseful conditions without proper amenities, electricity, healthcare centres, sanitation, road and transport systems causing major difficulties to the common people.

Every year the Noa Dihing River overflows causing huge loss of farmlands, houses, properties to thousands of farmers due to eroding. This causes the residents to relocate their houses to safer places, at times, in the nearby forestlands. Their conditions continue to worsen because of lack of government help, in terms of rehabilitation and other assistance and general awareness, which plays a major role in their miseries.
