Apple CEO Tim Cook arrives in India: To meet PM Modi; Shah Rukh Khan to host dinner
Apple CEO Tim Cook is on his first India visit these days as Apple CEO. He landed at Mumbai airport in his private jet at 11:45 pm yesterday. He will stay for a week in India and will visit Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Gurgaon.

He kick-started his tour with a pre-dawn visit to Shree Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi in Mumbai. Cook, who was accompanied by Apple India head Sanjay Kaul, also had a chat with Anant Ambani, the son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani.

The Apple CEO will be meeting Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry and others during the day. He is reported to meet Shah Rukh Khan at his residence for a dinner bash tonight.

On Saturday Cook is expected to visit Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been trying to stimulate India's manufacturing sector and develop the country's ties with Silicon Valley.

According to a source from Apple, Cook will also visit iPhone stores in Delhi and Gurgaon. "In Delhi, after greeting employees at the Apple's corporate office at One Horizon Centre in Gurgaon, he is expected to visit iZen Store (Apple authorised reseller) in Green Park and the iWorld Store (Apple premium store) in Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj."

Although, India represents a much smaller share of Apple's revenues than China does, the country is still an important market for the world's second biggest smartphone maker.

Cook had said earlier this year that, "India is incredibly exciting. The population of India is incredibly young. Almost half the people in India are below 25. And so I see the demographics there also being incredibly great for a consumer brand and for people that really want the best products."

On Thursday the Apple CEO will visit Hyderabad and will launch its development center there. He is also expected to meet Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
