Apple iPad 2 to make its Indian debut on Friday
Apple iPad 2, the latest second generation tablet from technology major Apple Inc., will enter the Indian market from Friday, April 29, onwards - apart from being launched in 12 other countries.

THE HUGELY awaited Apple iPad 2 will make its Indian debut on Friday, April 29. The move also comes as a relief for numerous iPad 1 fans who had been longing to grab hold of the product, but the Indian release just after a month it was released in the United States, calls for a celebration.


On April 20, Timothy Cook, the COO of Apple, had said that the company would be rolling out the new model in 13 more countries in, which India was also present.
 
The cheapest second generation tablet has been priced at Rs 29,500 without 3G whereas, the top most model will be available for for Rs 46,900 with 64 GB storage and 3G. With India being considered as a strategically lucrative market, Apple learnt a hard lesson when it launched the first generation tablet iPad 1 nine months after its US release.
 
As per trade analysts, with so many other vendors launching their devices, Apple doesn't want to miss out on new users looking to buy their first tablet in India.
 
Price differentiation with that of the UK market showed surprising results as iPad 2 comes at a much cheaper price tag. Shown below is the price differentiation for iPad 2 with and without 3G:

iPad 2 features dual-core A5 processor, display of 9.7 inches LED-backlit LCD screen of high-resolution for photos, movies, web pages, books. iPad 2 has two cameras one on the front and one on the back. Front-facing VGA camera is for FaceTime and Photo Booth, and a rear-facing camera for capturing 720 pixels HD video.

Apple iPad 2 is 33 per cent thinner and up to 15 per cent lighter than the original iPad and the battery life is same of up to 10-hour. It has up to nine times faster graphics performance. Other features in iPad 2 including iPad smart cover, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system iOS 4, Gyro, accelerometer, and compass.

With rivals like Samsung also vying for the Indian market with its next generation tablets, the competition will get tougher for Apple. It is expected that Apple will also roll out its next generation iPhone 4 in India with mobile service providers such as Airtel and Aircel.
