Apple iPhone 4 to be available unlocked in Canada

The Canadian iPhone 4 customers will be able to choose whether to buy a locked iPhone with a contract with a carrier or just get an unlocked iPhone at a bigger price and use it with the mobile carrier of their choice.

APPLE'S ICONIC iPhone 4 will go on sale in Canada along with 16 more countries this Friday. Canada will be the first nation where the Apple iPhone 4 will be sold unlocked as well as locked with carrier.

Every country has its mobile carriers of some good and some bad repute, AT&T in the US has been accused of being unable to tackle huge traffic and call drops etc. The US customers don’t have a choice to choose their carrier unless their phone is unlocked by the carrier at a handsome amount.

Similarly, if you are a Canadian customer who has complaints or reservations against using a certain mobile carrier you are free to choose the best that suits you. One can choose between Bell, Rogers or Telsus in Canada.

Both Apple iPhone 4 16 GB as well as the 32 GB models in black colour are available for customers. The pricing has not yet been announced but it is speculated that the price for 16 GB model will be around $659 CAD and $779 CAD for the 32GB version.

The US customers are still having only one choice and they have been asking Apple to change its policy regarding carriers and give some more choices. But as a document had earlier revealed that the companies Apple and AT&T are in an exclusive contract for 5 years.

This leaves the US customers with another choice to jailbreak the device and hence loose the warranty and other benefits. Many nations in the world have iPhone with multiple carriers.
