Apple Inc. said pre-order sales for the iPhone 4S have topped 1 million units in the first 24 hours of pre-order sales. At Apple retail stores the iPhone 4S will be available from Friday, October 14.
THE CUPERTINO, California based company Apple Inc., has created yet another record. The pre-orders of its new iPhone 4S model have topped one million in a single day. Earlier, the record was by the name of iPhone 4 whose single day pre-order was 600,000. At Apple retail stores the iPhone 4S will be available from Friday, October 14 in seven countries. Apple has the highest selling smartphones in the U.S. in the iPhone segment.

Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, Philip Schiller, said in a statement that the first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched. He also said that they are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S.
Apple had unveiled the new iPhone 4S on Tuesday October 4 at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino California. Apple's iPhone 4S looks the same as the earlier version, iPhone 4, but it is packed with incredible new features including Apple's dual-core A5 chip, an 8 megapixel camera, iOS 5 operating system, iCloud, outstanding battery life and over 200 new features. The phone will support both GSM and CDMA networks in more than 200 countries worldwide. It will be available in two colours - White and Black.
Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who died on October 5, unveiled the first iPhone in 2007 and since then the company has launched five generations of iPhones. Last year, Apple sold about 1.7 million iPhone 4 devices in just over ten days. The iPhone 4S will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK from October 14, whereas in 22 more countries it will be available by the end of October.
