THE MUCH ANTICIPATED Apple innovation, iPhone, was finally announced on January 9, at the annual MacWorld Expo in San Francisco. This new piece of technology incorporates the features of iPod, mobile phone, digital camera and wi-fi internet access. Back in 2001, iPod hit the world markets as the wonder gadget and redefined the entertainment technology. After decades of presence, Apple Computers Inc are now focusing more on consumer electronics, releasing their two new products – iPhones and Apple TV. With the launch of iPhones, Apple has just entered the mobile phone manufacturing. But they are way ahead in terms of performance and their upcoming gadget.

The iPhones will hit the US market in June 2007 and will make their debut in the European markets in the month of October. Although the prices are yet to be confirmed but the two versions are expected to be available for $499 and $599. In Asian markets the phone will be available towards the end of this year. Apple has further revealed that it is going to sell as many as 10 million iPhones in 2007.
At present iPhone is a trademark of Linksys, who produce their own versions of internet phones. Phones that make use of the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) have been in the market for quite sometime now. However the phones, like the ones produced by Linksys constitute a different genre and do not qualify for the smart phones. Apple and Linksys are negotiating over the trademark, which will soon be acquired by the Apple.
Following the announcement made by the CEO Apple Computers Inclusive, Steve Jobs, shares have witnessed a hike, giving a bad message to its contenders. It is estimated that iPhones won’t be as lucky as iPods were when they hit the market. Phone industry particularly is fragmented with hundreds of models featuring a wide array of functionalities. In the category of smart phones it has to compete with Palm Treo and Blacberrys. But the sleek stylish design and integrated technologies and performance gives it an edge and calls for an all appreciation and inspiration.
