Appreciation is the key to a happy workplace
The spirit and definitions have still remained the same i.e. winning and competing instead of collaborating and competing. Moreover, relaxing the muscles to smile has gone with the wind, therefore keeping a straight face is easy.

APPRECIATION is a miserly used word in many organizations. Quoting the above statement reminds of the poet W.H.Davies in his poem:

'Leisure' wrote: WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—

Hectic work schedules, pressing deadlines, target driven jobs, stress levels to all time high are the symptoms which call the next generation to the workplace. This unconducive working environment where most of the organizations losing basic peace of mind of making the people drivers for the organizations.

The spirit and definitions have still remained the same i.e. winning and competing instead of collaborating and competing. Moreover, relaxing the muscles to smile has gone with the wind, therefore keeping a straight face is easy. Smiles more often come with attached tags of selfishness. So, why wait and find people leaving jobs because of this commonly observed symptom everywhere. Appreciation technically means rise in the value of assest, which we all know as smarties. And when this opportunity comes our way we make hay while the sun shines.

The only assest which often does not get appreciated but rather depreciated maximum number of times at the workplace is human beings. Appreciation most of the times is used when the person has resigned, person has been terminated, person has been transferred and lastly when he has begun for his heavenly abode. That’s why, I guess many of the gallantry awards and bravery awards are offered when the soldiers guarding submit their lives for our country too.

Appreciation the twelve letter word would have the magical powers to heal a distress soul, to energize people, to tie up or reunite broken relationships. We all practice appreciation in some or the other form with a tag of stinginess attached to it, and when we go beyond the heights of appreciation we get tagged as being sarcastic.

Appreciating would break the ice and struck the chord between two people. It should be practiced profusely. This would give the value added benefit to the teams to function productively and build world class organizations. Ways of appreciating could create a positive cushioning and the much needed positivity and productivity.

1.Start the chain of appreciation with almost the entire organization, then burning bridges.

2.Have an Appreciation Day or An Appreciation Week and check the after effects which don’t need any medications.

3. Appreciation with a smile, handshake, simple thank you note, Hello ! a pleasant surprise, by colleagues would make the environment easy going.

Celebrating differences of individual identity with a touch of appreciation would create the much needed booster for everyone in the organization.
