Explaining why AR Rahman was chosen as the Indian of the Year by CNN IBN, a spokesperson for the television brand said, "He has redefined contemporary Indian music and is the pride of the entire nation. He is also an idol to millions for making a mark on the global music arena." AR Rahman will not have a moment to spare after the award.
He would be heading to Doha, to perform at the Aspire Dome on January 8. He will then go to Sydney for a performance at the Parramatta Park in Sydney on January 16. He will then be heard at the Police Stadium in Muscat, Oman on December 31. Baz Luhrman has only praises for Rahman. He said, "Whatever the style, AR Rahman's music always possesses a profound sense of humanity and spirit," he said.
