WHETHER ONE is into books or not, whether one is studying or working, there is one particular series of books that everyone loves to read. And as cheesy as it sounds, we have read them in happiness and sorrow, in sickness in health; in ups and downs. And every time we read them they never fail to amuse us.

I’m talking about none other than the Archie series of comics! The series that we have literally grown up on!! The good ol’ tales of Riverdale high school with a typical snooty principal, a gang of troublesome teenagers, grumpy teachers, harried parents; high school never got any better. Archie Andrews, the lead character who is a typical confused teenaged boy caught between the irresistible Veronica Lodge, daughter of a wealthy businessman who woos Archie with her beauty and suave lifestyle and the cute girl next door, Betty Cooper, Archie’s best friend who is always there with him through thick and thin.

Other characters include Jughead Jones, the cutest glutton you’ll ever know, Reggie who is completely smitten by Veronica, the gigantic Moose, a geeky Dilton and many more. For 65 years the series has entertained us through and through. And the chase for Archie has also been going on ever since then. Both Betty and Veronica fancy Archie and the poor teenaged boy just can’t seem to decide between the two!

But all that might come to an end very soon. According to the Archie and Jughead blog on archies.com, Riverdale is soon going to see a wedding. Yes. That’s right. The freckled high school chocolate boy will finally make a decision that might change the comic book forever. A teaser for the 600th edition of the comics book posted an entry on its official blog that read, “Archies Andrews is getting married” on May 15th. The post raised immense speculation as well as reactions from people all over the world. While some fans opined that Archie should marry Betty, others said he should marry Veronica.

The post read further, “"This August, prepare yourself for the Archie story you never thought you'd see, as Archie proposes to Veronica! Could it be true? Has Archie finally decided to take the plunge and propose to comics' favourite rich girl? It sure looks that way!” Fan Sara replied to the post saying, “Archie you better pick Betty! Betty is crazy for you and much more nice to you! Veronica is to snobby for you! If you don't pick Betty I might not read another Archie comic again! Veronica is a better match for Reggie. Oh Jug please! Please! Talk Archie into picking Betty!” Following the first post, a series of posts were seen on the site including a new post on the site which read. “Jughead thinks I should flip a coin to finally choose between Betty and Veronica. Do you think this is a good idea?” Another fan Carla replied, “She’s hot and always loved you remember the early times? Betty used to ignore you until Veronica moved to Riverdale and since you’ve been paying attention to her (and why shouldn’t u really) Betty became jealous and is trying to win you back ever since!! Ronnie’s the best!”

But the speculation was given a new twist with a new post that the blogsite came out with a new post with which said , "...this will be the biggest wedding Riverdale has ever seen...and the biggest Archie Comics story...In fact, we'll even go so far as to call it the Archie Story of the Century. With a title like 'Archie Marries Veronica Part 1: The Proposal,' how could we call it anything else?” The suspense was finally revealed after days of speculation on both Betty and Veronica’s page with the two hoping that Archie would marry them on May 27 when Veronica’s blog read, “I am so excited, I am getting Married to Archie. There is so much to do, so many plans to make. I wonder if Betty wants to be my Maid of Honour. I bet she is so happy for me!”

The posts have been given immense hype and some even view it as a publicity gimmick. Whatever be the case the revelation has created even more curiosity as to what the comic book giant is planning next for the series.

The 600th edition is slated to showcase the teenagers finally graduating and the series will now plunge into a new era for the Riverdale teenagers as they take a plunge into college life. New loves, new careers and new problems! Well whether Archie picks Betty or Veronica, I know one thing for a fact, we will never stop loving him!
