Governor M.O.H. Farook administered the oath of office at Raj Bhavan. Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government with the support of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) and JD (U).
In the 82-member Assembly, BJP and JMM have 18 MLAs, five AJSU, two Janata Dal (United) legislators and two others are supporting Arjun Munda government.
Former BJP President Rajnath Singh and Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand chief ministers Raman Singh and Ramesh Pokhriyal attended the swearing-in ceremony. Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani and national President Nitin Gadkari were not present during the function.
Earlier, central government recommended lifting of the President's rule in the state. Jharkhand was under central rule since the BJP withdrew support to Shibu Soren government in April this year.
Arjun Munda is Lok Sabha member and he will have to win a by-poll to enter the house within six months. He first served the state in 2003 and then in 2005, when NDA led government formed in Jharkhand.
