Army chopper crash: Three dead, one injured
Around 10:30 AM today, an army helicopter reportedly crashed at Sukna Military Camp in West Bengal.

Three officers were killed in the crash and another Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) has been critically injured. While the three officers died on the spot, the JCO was evacuated and is presently undergoing treatment.

According to the Army, two helicopters were sent for forward area survey after which one of them returned & landed successfully, while the other one crashed.

"It was a routine mission operating from Sukna and the crash happened when the chopper was coming in to land," the spokesman said.

The Cheetah helicopter was reportedly returning to the camp's helipad from a routine mission.

News agency ANI quoted the Indian Army saying that a mechanical failure seems to have caused the crash but nothing has been ascertained as yet. The Army has ordered a court of inquiry into the incident to ascertain the cause of the accident.
