One is only too familiar with the words, 'The nation wants to know,' and Arnab Goswami's scream following it - if you closely follow the news channel Times Now. For people who do not share the world view of Times Now, they must be wondering what are people ranting about on Twitter under the hash-tag of TheNationWantsToKnow.

THE PHRASE so often used by Times Now anchor Arnab Goswami has become an overused punch-line to provoke answers from cornered politicians and miscellanaous personalities - so much so that his 'nation wants to know' pressure tactic managed to elicit the sympathy of his viewers for the poor blabbering, and inarticulate politician - read Abhijit Mukherjee of the 'dented and painted' fame.

Now the nation, thanks to Twitter, has started to ask their own 'nation wants to know' questions with the cue of #TheNationWantsToKnow. Some are earnestly commenting, questioning authorities, some cracking jokes at the bespectacled and aggressive Goswami, and some just having fun with the Twitter hash-tag of the day.

Taking a shot at the news show News Hour in which Arnab Goswami demands answer on the pretext that the nation wants to know, one Twitterati posed a question, “#TheNationWantsToKnow why it's called Newshour when it has no news and goes on for more than an hour.” Another tweeple also questioned the anchor as to why Arnab could read out the speech of Pravin Togadia but not of Owaisi. He added that the nation wants to know whether Arnab was scared?!

Some twitterati are also taking on the government about the recent Delhi rape case. One among many asked, “What does Sheila Dixit do in office if she is not responsible for anything in Delhi?” While another one posed a question about Sonia Gandhi's ill health and whether she is feigning illness in order to be off the radar. “#TheNationWantsToKnow how Manmohan Singh converses with his wife,” was another clever yet funny tweet.

The nation also wants to know the ridiculous trivia about B celebs such as 'does Bappi Lahiri ever take his sunglasses off,' and when will Salman Khan marry? In good fun, another smart tweet asked, “If electricity comes from electrons, does morality comes from morons? :-P”
