The capital city of South Korea received heavy rainfall measuring 400 millimeters, which has led to death of around 18 people. Around 700 homes were affected by it.

HEAVY RAIN poured in the South Korean capital city of Seoul, which resulted in death of around 18 people as the heavy rain lead to landslides, early morning today. Out of these 18 people who died, 12 of them died as a mudslide hit an inn and 3 houses in the Chuncheon region of the capital. Landslides occurred in other parts of Seoul too, which resulted in other deaths.

The traffic has been in a state of chaos after the rains battered the area. The water is spread all over the roads, which makes it difficult for people to drive their cars. There were numerous scenes where people had to get out of their cars and push it to a safer place as the roads were clogged with water. As a result of the landslides, various trains had also been cancelled.

Rescue operations are on at various places where the landslide has taken place. They are on search for those missing people who may be lying under the rubble of the houses. Three people have been reported to be missing so far. It is said that around 700 homes were affected by it. According to the Central Disaster Relief Center, they have sent around 750 rescue men where the landslides have taken place.

As far as weather is concerned, it has been raining like cats and dogs throughout the city. Since Tuesday afternoon it has been raining very heavily as it is said that there was a rainfall of around 400 millimetres. If the weather officials are to be believed then Friday could witness another wet day in the capital with expected rainfall measuring 10 inches.
