Yet again Arsenal lies on the fringes of a trophy less season. I remember during the first half of the season, Gunner's thirsty fans were saying out loud, 'this is the season!' Personally, I think they have been saying that every season.
ARSENAL PRODUCED some magnificent performances but I always felt that they will have problems during the second half of the season. If Gunners do not produce an exhilarating performance against the Blues in February, I am sure Wenger will start feeling the pressure from the “Liberal” board of Arsenal Football club.
FIve years without a trophy for a club like Arsenal is kind of hard to digest. I think in football, playing beautifully and majestically will not do much. You have to win trophies and I personally believe Mr. Wenger knows that it’s his fault. If he doesn’t then he better start realizing it soon.
Basically I am planning to share some frailties Arsenal had this season which looks to be, yet again, a barren season. Firstly, never start a season depending thoroughly on RVP (Van Persie). Nothing against him, but the lad has the history of injuries. The “professor” should have bought a recognized attacker to provide support to the Russian Arshavin and “kids”:- Theo Walcott, Nic Bendtner and Carlos Vela. I know I might get stick from the Gunners but please tell me that these strikers can’t be classified as experienced strikers. I still think they are in the rudimentary stage. Apart from the attack there is, of course, the defence. Thomas Varmaelen was a decent buy. The guy notched some goals too but his partner, Gallas, has been abysmal. When a team is facing counter attack, both centrebacks should have some sort of communication and it has lacked by miles in the case of these two. Yes, addition of Sol Campbell could sort some issues but I firmly believe it’s too late. Loss to Manchester United, Chelsea, Sunderland and draws against West Ham, Aston Villa and Birmingham city should be considered loss of valuable points.
The other thing that really caught me by surprise was Wenger’s attitude in the Cup games. Placing a relatively young side in FA and Carling Cup was indeed mind twisting. Honestly, during the start of the season, everyone expected Chelsea and Manchester united to be strong contenders for the EPL crown and I am quite certain even Wenger knew that. Why on earth did he take Cup games so nonchalantly? A trophy is a trophy at the end of day. Giving Cup games a little bit of seriousness could easily make Gunners trip to Wembley a confirmed one. All Arsenal have this season is the EPL crown and Uefa Champions League. I think the latter is miles away from the reach of Gunners. Experience counts! Without it, especially in Europe, it’s impossible. All I can say is that Arsenal needs a saviour not in shape of a player, but really a saviour sent from above, if they are planning to land some silverware this season. Without it, trust me it doesn’t look good. New coach? Give me your thoughts.
.SAck Wegner? first just because we didnt win a trophy its not the end of the world. Thrid isn't a bad place either, look at teams like Manchester City, they spent millions and millions and there not in contention for the crown. We are still a young team, sure thats not a big excuse but when chelseas average age is 29 and ours is 23 you have to be merciful. IN a couple of years we could still have the exact same team and imagine them then. Without wegner what would we have we wouldnt have fabregas or ramsey or any other bright young prospects so we already owe him alot.
