Arshad Warsi's latest film 'The Legend of Michael Mishra' banned in Punjab
Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi's latest film 'The Legend of Michael Mishra' that released today has run into a controversy. The movie has been released all over India except Punjab. The government of Punjab has banned the film for two months in the state.

The spokesperson for the Punjab government in an official statement announced the ban saying that the decision was taken because of prevailing strong resentment from the Valmiki community over some objectionable references to Maharishi Valmiki.

The development was confirmed by the Assistant inspector general intelligence, Jalandhar, Mandeep Singh.

Recently, a preview of the film was arranged for the particular community at Big Cinemas at Viva College Mall in Jalandhar.

"We requested the filmmakers to delete some scenes that the Balmiki community members are raising objection on, but the scenes are still a part of the movie. They have only muted the volume," said Mandeep Singh.

Thus, the film's suspension was focused to maintain peace and social harmony in the state as the movie may have triggered contention and protests. So, the administration has suspended the film with immediate effect for 2 months.

The film will be seen as an uncertified film in Punjab till the government lifts the ban. Starring Arshad Warsi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Boman Irani and Kayoze Irani, 'The Legend of Michael Mishra' is a madcap comedy directed by Manish Jha.
