Arunachal CM safe but controversy on with Pawan Hans
After MIG crashes in the country, the viability and safety of Pawan Hans helicopter has become a matter of concern. Today, Arunachal Pradesh CM's Pawan Hans had to land mid way between Tawang and Itanagar after it developed a technical snag.
THE PAWAN Hans helicopter has once again brought confusion and questions amongst many people in Arunachal Pradesh in particular, and with others in general regarding the missing helicopter in the morning today, which was carrying the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu.
It has been reported that the helicopter has landed safely for emergency purpose in some place in Bhutan. The helicopter was missing after it took off from Twang this morning. Whereas some sources reported that the helicopter landed some where in Daporijo. The helicopter would be bought back to Itanagar. Chief Minister's office said that Khandu's helicopter had to make an emergency landing due to technical snag near Tawang but inside Bhutanese territory. The other passengers are Lamu, a woman relative of the Chief Minister, his security officer Choddak, Captain Babbar and Captain Manik. Khandu had taken off from Tawang at 9:56 am and was to land at Itanagar at 11:30 am by the chartered Pawan Hans helicopter. Tawang is about 200 kms from here. It is to be mentioned there was a chopper crash on April 19, and it killed 17 people. Last year, in November, a similar accident took place which killed 20 army people. The helicopter controversy has become a point of discussion in all the states of north east. Meghalaya governemnt had suspended the service of Pawan Hans as its crash took lives of legislatures including ministers of Meghalaya in previous years. Similarly other state governments might suspend the service of Pawan Hans as they have failed to provide safety to passengers.
