Arvind Kejriwal: 6 reasons why this man's popularity is still giving BJP sleepless nights in Delhi election 2015
Why is Arvind Kejriwal so popular? Why still? A national party like BJP that is now riding on the waves of mass support is actually finding it tough to crack the Delhi election. Why so? Why is it that a heavyweight politician and prime minister like Narendra Modi have to attend rallies to counter a few year old party in Delhi election? Why is Kejriwal's popularity giving Amit Shah's strategy team sleepless nights? An analysis

He is seen as 'The alternative force' : Why did BJP came to power despite getting only 30 percent of the country's population voting for them? It was because people were looking for an alternative to the ruling party Congress and they voted everybody they could find in front of them. In the process BJP emerged victorious because they came across as a viable option in comparison to other alternatives. In a similar turn of events, people are looking for an alternative in the capital city Delhi. And AAP probably seems to be the most viable one.

Constant recognition by Opponents: How many times have we seen BJP attacking Rahul Gandhi or Sheila Dixit or Ajay Maken in the Delhi election rally 2015? But for Arvind Kejriwal they had a series of attacking campaigns planned in various mediums. Even for the last one year BJP supporters used social media to brand the image 'bhagora' for Kejriwal. In the process, they never let people forget about him as an option.

Modi magic - too long, too stale: The Indian audience is an impatient race. Majority of us understand so little of policies, diplomacies and international relations. Just like majority of the citizens do not care about social activists crying foul to Modi's land acquisition policy, we are not awe struck by 'Swachch Bharat' campaign or 'Make in India' or 'Obama visit' hugely to forget our daily pains. Those are good news reports to be discussed on coffee tables. But what matters to us when we go to polling booths is the price of vegetables, price of electricity, price of fuel. And we are impatient. How long do you think we will wait? So Kejribabu is new Modi.

Muffler  wins against Branded suits : Indians, in general, are not a very fashion conscious tribe. At the ground level, people relate to a humbly dressed common man more. Mamata Bannerjee's success as a politician is partially credited to the same by many analysts. Kejriwal's 'common man' attire comes across more connecting to the masses in Delhi in comparison to the sauve Modi donning a branded suit seated with Obama. The fact that BJP called for elections when the winter is yet to be over in the capital city gave Kejriwal enough chance to wear his trademark muffler. It's not style, it's a symbol of his 'cold allergy'. In the subconscious minds of the voters his vulnerability from cold is lovable. It's easier to relate to.

Little history, little problem: How much can you mud-sling to a person who only has a political tenure of 49 days? Arvind Kejriwal, in reality, has not done much. While this freshness acts in his favour because he can woo voters with his promise, it acts against BJP who cannot find faults with his way of politics. The recent series of cartoons targeting Kejriwal's family, gotra etc. only shows that BJP couldn't find any other substantial allegation against the man.

Educated background: Everybody knows the man's resume - passed out from IIT - Kharagpur, cleared IRS exam, worked in TATA Steel, worked with Mother Teresa, won Ramon Magsaysay Award. And the biggest part is that AAP never tried branding Kejriwal with this resume. It was opposition's constant plugins in social media to remind people about how he 'quit' most of his jobs in his career actually let most people know the jobs he qualified for.  BJP's tryst of putting Kiran Bedi in front is only to tackle this 'educated' image of Kejriwal.
