As Assam bleeds, natives beg for peace
It is high time that the local and central government take the right steps to stop the violence that is fast spreading its tentacles across the state. Also needed is a strong stand so that terrorists who have held state to ransom are wiped out, either through dialogue or military action.

ONCE AGAIN, Assam is in news for the wrong reasons – earlier it was the mob molestation of a teenaged girl and now it is the widespread violence, arson and killings. Whether the root cause is the land issue or the 'illegal immigrants' from the neighbouring country, it is the peace of life that has been shattered.

It is not for the first time that such incident has happened in the state. This kind of incident happens every year, especially before the Independence Day. When all the Indians are celebrating the auspicious Independence Day the North –East states stay aloof from the celebration. It’s the state which has always drawn little attention from the central and state government to kill the terrorists who have been ruling the state for many years now.

Assam though blessed with abundance of scenic splendour and rarest natural wealth has failed to present a beautiful picture. Terrorism that strikes the state every alternate day suppresses the growth and development of the state. This is the major reason that holds the state from developing industrially and technically.

It is high time for the central government to take massive action to curb the root causes of terrorist activities. And equally blamed for the violence is the political system which has always been biased. Better industrial policies can provide employment to youths who otherwise get involved in criminal and terrorist activities. The state can also become famous for its serene topography through the promotion of tourism all across the country and abroad. It’s the peace and prosperity that every native of Assam is begging for. No more bloodshed please!
