Every year various awards are conferred upon defense people who make the country proud on various occasions. This year on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations, two Assamese brave hearts have also been awarded for the extraordinary services, making the entire North-East India proud.
TWO ASSAMESE have made the entire North-East India proud as they were awarded for their exceptional services to the nation on the eve of 63rd Republic Day celebrations. For services to the nation and its defence forces, two people received Param Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal. It is to be mentioned that both Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi and Major General Pranab Kumar Bharali are alumni of Sainik School Goalpara, one of the reputed institute of entire North East India.
Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi has been awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal on the occasion of Republic day 2012 for his distinguished service to the nation. This is the highest peace time award for rendering services of the most exceptional order. The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command was born at Dibrugarh in upper Assam. Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi is the eldest son of former Chief Minister Keshab Chandra Gogoi.
They have made the state proud and at the same are also encouraging many other young people from the state and the region. The total awards approved this year, according to Press Information Bureau include 01 Ashoka Chakra, 03 Kirti Chakra, 16 Shaurya Chakra, 03 Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry), 73 Sena Medal (Gallantry), 03 Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry), 02 Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry), 28 Param Vishisht Seva Medal, 01 Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, 06 Bar to Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, 45 Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, 04 Yudh Seva Medal, 03 Bar to Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty), 37 Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty), 08 Nao Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty), 14 Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty), 06 Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal and 115 Vishisht Seva Medal.
