Many political observers feel that if Raj Thackeray had been given his due to become the next heir of the Shiv Sena, the split in votes of the right wing Marathis would have been avoided.
LOVE AND bias for son Udhav Thackrey has made Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackrey ruin his own party. When he shut his eyes towards the charismatic personality of his nephew, Raj Thackeray, he negated the usefulness of the right wing leader for the party.
Many political observers feel that if Raj Thackrey had been given his due to become the next heir of the Shiv Sena, the split in votes of the right wing Marathis would have been avoided. Many speculate that the combine would have had such strength that it would have challenged the Congress NCP combine, in a more effective manner than the current Shiv Sena-BJP alliance.
Such a situation would have been in national interest too, as the possible mature politics by Shiv Sena would have toned down the hardline ideology of the MNS, which is presently compelled to provoke regional sentiments to create a solid vote bank.
Family-bias is not uncommon in Indian politics. The formation of the Union Cabinet was delayed because of the demands for ministerial berths by DMK supremo Karunanidhi for his children. It is indeed sad that India has a system where political heavy weights are at liberty to put national interests at stake, in order to make their children as their heir apparent in politics.
