ADAMANT NOT to reopen it’s Agartala office, the management of NE Bangla Satellite TV Channel has come to the table for assessment of financial loss caused to the employees by them by their sudden and illegal closure of Agartala office.
In a tripartite meeting held at the chamber of Labour Officer, D Bhattacharjee in Agartala on August 17, the management was represented by the Accountant, Prabhakar Awasti and the employees by SAVE NORTH EAST lead by Prasenjit Chakraborty.
It was instructed by the authorities in the tripartite meeting held on August 6 at the Labor Commissioner’s office with R N Sinh(Director, North East Multimedia Pvt Ltd) and others that all the documents(attendance register, leave register etc) shall be produced by the management for the assessment of compensation etc. However, Tuesday’s meeting witnessed that the management failed bitterly in this regard. The management showed how it had mismanaged the office for last three years as no official procedures were followed and no records were properly maintained with regard to the employees and others.
Anyway, the assessment was done on the basis of accounted amount of salary of the employees and the respective legal provisions.The special team of Labor officers (D Bhattacharjee (LO) , AB Tripura (LO) and Manindra Debnath, Inspector emphasized on the implementation of the provisions enshrined in the Labor Act, responding to the point wise demands placed by the employees.Labor Commission will now place the matter to the management of the channel to release the amounts assessed, to the individual accounts of the employees, at the earliest.A source close to the management informed that a hidden attempt is being made to evade the upcoming expenditure.Later talking to the media, the SAVE NORTH EAST leader and journalist Prasenjit Chakraborty has warned that vigorous actions will be initiated to protest and thwart any further move to deceive the suffering employees. He hoped Matang Sinh and associates will understand and realize the hard realities that escaping the law of the land is impossible as the employees are ever active and vigilant.
