Astronomy clubs to get active for spectacle of five-planet alignment
Fifty odd active astronomy clubs in India, dotting various states, will organize events in the coming thirty odd days to celebrate the spectacle of alignment of five planets. The members of the Astronomical Society of India always show keen interest in the astronomical events, which occur after a long time.

Go out early morning, pre-dawn time preferably, to get treated with a rare spectacle of five planets that are located closest to Earth these days, they will align in the period between Jan 20 and Feb 20. The best sighting wills be around 1.5 hours before the sunrise.

For sky-gazers, astronomers and photographers, it the best time to watch Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn to view and record the rare astronomical alignment occurring after ten years.

However, two planets, Uranus and Neptune, can also be seen during the first half of the night through a telescope or a pair of binoculars. Venus is usually the easiest planet to spot when the pre-dawn skies to work as guide to spot other dimmers planets due to alignment.

The Astronomical Society of India, established in 1972, has grown to become the prime association of professional astronomers in India with around 1000 members. It works for the promotion and popularization of Astronomy in the country.
