ATLEAST TWENTY people were killed and about twenty five others injured in a bus-trailer collision in the out skirts of Jharkhand's capital city Ranchi in the wee hours of Monday. According to reports police rushed to the spot immediately, and sent the victims to nearby hospitals.

Bus was coming from Jamshedpur and was going to Arah in Bihar, carrying around 45 people collide with an iron laden trailer around 3:30 am near the Surya temple situated at Bundu, about 50 kms from Ranchi on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur national highway. This is worst road mishap in Jharkhand in recent times.
According to media reports, the iron rods pierced into the bus after the mishap, and this resulted in 13 people losing their lives on the spot due to the accident spot, while several others have been hospitalized. About 25 others have been injured with most of them stated to be serious - indicating that the final death toll could rise. The injured people have been admitted at the Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda, who was in Kolkata, reached Ranchi on early Monday morning and visited the capital's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences to inquire about the injured. The chief minister also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each dead person.
