In one of the deadliest attacks in the country, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a military parade rehearsal in Sanaa, killing at least 60 people and injuring over 100.
IT IS said that a soldier taking part in the drill turned out to be the suicide bomber. He blew himself up when other soldiers were lining up at the main square in Sanna for a parade. The explosion was so powerful that several severed heads flew around and the spot was filled with a large pool of blood.
The soldiers had assembled for a rehearsal of a parade for the celebration of Yemen's National Day on May 22. The attack took place a few minutes before the arrival of the defense minister and the chief of the army staff of Yemen. No one has immediately claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing.
Of late, the national army of Yemen had been carrying out operations to dislodge the Muslim militants from their strongholds with the help of U.S. troops.
