ATP World Tour final: History speaks in favour of Federer
The Swiss ace will be playing his eighth ATP world Tour finals when he meets Novak Djokovic for the 2012 finals. As far as Federer's record in this championship is concerned, he has been ruling it for the past many years, as he has won it six times.

TWO OF the greatest tennis players of the modern era - Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic would clash in the finals of the prestigious ATP world tour title in The O2 arena at London. Federer reached the finals of the championship after defeating Andy Murray in straight sets, 7-6 and 6-2 and Novak Djokovic defeated Del Potro 4-6, 6-3 and 6-2 to set an encounter against Federer.

It would be difficult to choose between the two for the title, but Federer is going to enjoy a slight edge over his opponent, as his history in the championship would suggest. He has won this competition an impressive six times with the first being in 2003 and the latest being in 2011. He has only lost once in 2005 against David Nalbandian. Else, he has dominated other opponents in the past as well.

Federer always comes up with a classic game, while clashing with big players in huge matches, as it was witnessed in yesterday's match against Murray, where he was simply unstoppable. Expect the same kind of a performance from the Swiss player in the finals against Djokovic, where he is said to have an overall good record against Djokovic with a lead of 16-12 wins (stats from as far as head to head matches are compared.

But, one look at 2012 record of both the players suggests that Djokovic looks good with consistency in Grand slam matches. Novak reached three Grand Slam finals and won one of them, Australian Open and Roger has a cent percent record in the 2012 Grand slam finals with Wimbledon triumph. His game goes up a notch higher when he plays the finals of any competition. He is a player for big matches and also a big occasion. What better occasion than the ATP world tour finals for Federer!

But take nothing away from the Serbian player, who has been one of the best players in the ATP circuit capable of defeating any player. It is through his performances that Djokovic has been ranked no 1 in the ATP circuit, so the match between the two shouts for an interesting encounter between modern greats.
