Attack on CRPF convoy at Pulwama: Pakistan should be ready to get a reply in a language it never would have wished
The terror attack on a CRPF convoy at Pulwama on 14th February which killed 37 brave soldiers and wounded many is a very unfortunate and sad incident.

Pakistan sponsored major attacks have been carried out in the last two years post the surgical strike. India eliminated nearly 170 terrorists through operation 'All Out'. That's why Pak sponsored terrorists were desperate and carried out this heinous act which I think was unavoidable to some extent. Why unavoidable, I will clarify in the latter part.

But first let's all condemn political parties like the Congress who are playing politics over the incident. Surjewalla asked where the 56" chest was. Omar Abdullah said that he condemned the incident even before the PM. Mehebooba said that dialogue with Pakistan should begin. Many opposition politicians have asked "where is a Kashmir policy?" Let me ask them what has been their Kashmir policy for last seventy years and what's was the end result?

Many further asked 'did the surgical strike stop Pakistan's export of terror?' Modi has clearly said that despite four wars Pakistan didn't mend its ways so how can it change through one surgical strike? With surgical strike India changed its strategy and will retaliate whenever provoked.

That's why I say we should ignore such people who are politicizing an unfortunate incident at this hour of mourning. Let's all stand with the families of the martyrs.

Now many say there was lack of intelligence, mistakes in the SOP or negligence by the CRPF. Let me clarify (after going through the details) that there was an intelligence report that a Pakistani terrorist named Rasheed Ghazi had intruded into Kashmir along with a couple of his allies. It was also known that a local youth named Adil Ahmad Dar had joining JeM. A mega rally was held on February 5 in Pakistan to observe the Kashmir Solidarity Day, in which, Abdul Rauf Asghar, the brother of Masood Azhar, had threatened to shake Delhi. IED was also recovered in small quantities in various searches. Security forces too were making efforts to nab these terrorists.

There were even specific intelligence inputs that a CRPF convoy could be targeted. That's why the convoy that eventually became the target was following the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) strictly. The ROP (Road Opening Party) did all the checks including sanitization of the route before allowing the convoy to move. The problem occurred as stopping of civilian movement along the route of the convoy was not part of the SOP. The explosion was done through an IED laden SUV (Mahindra Scorpio) which managed to get within striking distance of the bus carrying the soldiers. It would be unjustified to blame the negligence of the forces as a civilian vehicle being driven by a man on a suicide mission managed to get near the bus. In future the SOP might change to include stopping civilian vehicular movement along the convoy route.

The people are demanding "Surgical Strike-II". I think that the Modi government will surely retaliate but not by sending commandos inside PoK to kill terrorists and destroy their shelters. There's no longer an element of surprise left and our commandos might be ambushed. I think that India will use non-contact retaliation. That means, terrorist, their lunch pad, hideouts and some Pakistani army posts and barracks will be attacked through missiles, long-range guns or through either aircraft or drones. Then there are other political steps too. Already the MFN status to Pakistan has been withdrawn. The Indus Water Treaty may be scrapped. There could be a covert operation against some high value Pakistani asset. This is called escalating the confrontation to a medium level.

If Pakistan wants to escalate the conflict, it would be their choice. India is even ready for a full scale war if Pakistan intends so. It's time India should expose Pakistan's nuclear bluff.

As I know Narendra Modi, be prepared to hear something like this in a couple of weeks' time. Narendra Modi is not among those leaders who forget and forgive. Modi neither forgets nor forgives. Pakistan will get a reply in a language it never would have wished.
