Attack on Israeli diplomat car: Israel's act to garner Indian support
15 February, 2012 Is Israel creating opportunities and rationales to justify its plan to attack Iran and gain international support over the attacks? Israel has started to use the recent bomb attacks on its interests in New Delhi and Tbilisi as a reason to justify its attacks on Iran's 'nuclear program'.
THE MAIN reason behind choosing India for the attacks is to garner Indian support as we are the biggest oil importers from Iran. February 13 saw an attack on Israeli diplomat's car in New Delhi, which as expected gave chances globally to point fingers and train guns on Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Iran and its supported organization Hezbollah of carrying out twin bomb attacks on Israeli diplomats in
India and Georgia. He has openly accused Iran of being a country, which is now becoming the ‘world's largest terrorist exporter’.
This spontaneous blaming of Iran and naming it as a prime suspect, leaves me with several questions and doubts. As far as I know, Israeli embassy is considered to be one of the most secure locations in New Delhi, then how can anyone plant a bomb? And why would anyone plant a bomb which doesn't kill anyone? Only two people were wounded in the New Delhi bomb attack and the bomb squad was able to defuse the car bomb in Georgia well before it went off. Doesn't it look like creating a reason that would be supported internationally that Israel would quote in order to attack Iran?
Recent bomb/terror attack history shows that whenever there has been a terror attack in India, the government officials have first pointed fingers at Pakistan and it’s supported terrorist organizations. Then how come this time straight away Iran's name has come out as a primary suspect?
But one may ask why choose India to make an international statement? The answer could be found in the debates and discussions involving oil imports to India. All the NATO countries have stopped buying oil from Iran and USA has urged India to follow the trail. But approximately 40% of oil supplies in India come from Iran and hence, India obviously cannot stop oil imports. India has openly stated that it wouldn’t stop oil imports from Iran. India slowly has become an important and powerful country that has a say in international decisions. Also it is seen that India would prove to be the only country in Southeast Asia which can contain Chinese expansion in the Indian Ocean, thus, India's support is required.
Israel has already been planning to attack Iran and has had several talks/discussions regarding this with chiefs of several countries. If news reports are to be believed, recently, Mossad head Tamir Pardo visited Washington D.C. to gauge how the Barack Obama government would react if Israel launched an attack against Iran's nuclear program.
Israel is one the most technologically advanced country with a superb and world's best intelligence agency Mossad. Israel is against Iran's nuclear program and has gotten not only United Nations to push several sanctions against Iran but also wheedled United States to impose few more stringent unilateral sanctions on Iran for not following Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). These sanctions would result in cutting off Iran's supplies in order to bring it on its knees and stop the nuclear program. Last year Israeli hackers released a software virus which only targeted the Centrifuge machines used for Uranium and Plutonium Enrichment in Iran, and the hacking was very much state-sponsored. The hackers eventually succeeded in sabotaging their enrichment systems.
Looks like Israel is preparing for a backup plan if the sanctions doesn’t prove helpful enough.
