There are rumours that the exclusive contract between Apple and AT&T may end soon. The date is not confirmed but it has been reported by Slash Gear (a tech blog) that the contract would end either by end of 2010 or early 2011.
HERE COMES a news which will make many of the existing as well as future US iPhone customers happy. There are rumours that the exclusive contract between Apple and AT&T may end soon. The date is not confirmed but it has been reported by Slash Gear (a tech blog) that the contract would end either by end of 2010 or early 2011.
Slash Gear stated that they have got this detail from a recent SEC filing which supports this fact of end of exclusive contract between Apple and AT&T to be exclusive mobile carrier for the iPhone. There have been rumours of a Verizon iPhone coming to market in early 2011.
The above mentioned SEC filing states ‘exclusive arrangements end’ which, to many of the analysts, points towards the AT&T and Apple’s exclusivity deal. This is a good piece of news to a huge chunk of existing customers who love the device’s functionality but complain of the contract issues. Not only this, but the network of AT&T is also a headache for many US customers who are on AT&T because it is the exclusive carrier. Many nations other than the US provide multiple carrier choice so that the customers can own the device and have a choice of carriers even if they are to sign a contract.Canada is the one country which will be selling unlocked iPhones giving customers a choice to have any SIM in their phone. If the exclusive contract ends it is believed to give a boost to iPhone sales and Apple will surely get a good revenue as well.
