Auction of Narendra Modi's suit: Highest bid reaches to Rs. 1.21 cr
The controversial pinstriped suit, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore at a meeting with the US President Barack Obama last month has been put on auction in Surat. The suit has attracted massive offers. The highest bid for the suit reached to Rs. 1.21 cr so far by the day one.

A Surat-based textile businessmen, Rajesh Juneja offerd this price for the navy blue suit, which according to Narendra Modi's political opponents costs around Rs. 10 lakh in original.

The auction being organized at the Science Convention Centre at city-lights road in Surat under the surveillance of State government and district administration, will go on for three days that started yesterday and the money will go for the cleaning of river Ganga.

In total 455 items that were received as gifts by Modi and Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel are there for the auction along with the pinstriped suit.

The items include 237 cloth pieces, 99 photo frames, 28 metallic items, 13 silver items, one gold item, five items made of glass, nine of ceramic, 18 of brass and copper, and 31 of wood, as reported by Times of India.

The businessmen and other people coming for the bidding are very enthusiastically participating in the auction.

Meanwhile reacting to the auction of the suit the Congress said that it was a damage control exercise by the Prime Minister.

In past Narendra Modi's political opponents had slammed him for wearing this expensive suit. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has even called Modi a 'megalomaniac'. The Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had also talked about Modi's suit during the Delhi election campaign.

This is not the first time PM Modi is doing such an auction. He used to do this when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat, and he made it a tradition to auction his gifts for charity. Till now he has auctioned around 18,000 items and the money has been given towards education of girl.
