Aung San Suu Kyi during her ongoing visit to India, has already met the prime minister. Now she is all set to visit her alma mater, Lady Shri Ram College.
AUNG SAN Suu Kyi, Burmese Opposition leader is on a six-day visit to India. Yesterday, she also visited the Jawaharlal Nehru
and Mahatma Gandhi's Memorial as a mark of tribute to two of the finest political leaders of the Indian Independence era.
In this AFP video, she said, “People keep asking me about my expectations and that seems to be a little selfish. One does not just come with expectations, one comes in a spirit of friendship and desire to strengthen ties between the two countries. It is like life in general, there are things that change and there are things that never change and things that I can recognise way back and things that are different, but something like this never changes.”
She is already very busy and has a hectic schedule in front of her, as she is expected to meet some top political leaders of the country. She has already met the Indian Prime Minister, and the two leaders discussed ways to better relations between the two neighbouring countries. Manmohan Singh had already visited Burma earlier in the year to improve the economic and political ties.
It is on Friday, that Aung San Suu Kyi would be visiting her alma mater, Lady Shri Ram College as well, where she spent her college life. It would be a great feeling for the Burmese leader who would get to meet some of her teachers, who had taught her some important lessons in college, which has helped her become a successful leader. Her mother, Daw Khin Yi was Ambassador to India.
