In the first innings played by Australia the team had declared with five wicket remaining after 128 overs. They had scored 454 runs with Watson, Katich and Hussey providing the highest runs at 93, 98 and 82 respectively. In contrast, the first innings of Pakistan saw the team collapse in 99 overs with a score of 258 runs. Here, Umar Akmal had scored 51 runs for the team, while Misbah-ul-Haq was at 65 runs when the final wicket of Saeed Ajmal fell.
In the second innings Australia declared its score of 225 runs at 73.1 overs with eight wickets down. Watson was able to deliver a century this time and was at the crease with 120 runs when the team declared its score. He provided a majority of the score with a rest of team scoring less than 50 runs.
Today, Pakistan began to bat after the lunch session, but soon lost Imran Farhat at 6.3 overs. Farhat had scored a total of 12 runs before he fell to an appeal of lbw at a ball by Bollinger. The second wicket to fall was Right hand batsman Salman Butt who was also sent to the pavillion due to an lbw at ball by Johnson. He had scored 32 runs.
