Australia's racism - Can they afford the consequences?
Racially motivated attacks on Indians in Australia must stop now. They have gone on for longer than is tolerable. Australia must weigh the consequences of its actions. Can they afford to lose the income they make from the 1lac Indian students there?
THE INCREASING number of racially motivated attacks on Indians by Australians has become an issue of major concern for the Indian Government. Now it’s high time for Australia to take India’s warning of long term consequences seriously.

Earlier, Australian government turned a deaf ear over the issue and denied that the acts were racial in nature. However now Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has accepted the fact and is expressing his concern over the issue. According to the reports, in a meeting with Australian Prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed his views on the safety and security of Indians living abroad.
He warned the Australian government and said India won’t be tolerating such cruel incidents.

There can be several reasons for such shameful and distressing activities. One of the main reasons can be IT and the outsourcing of jobs. Indian IT, BPO and KPO guys have snatched jobs from Australians as they possess all the required skills and qualifications. There are other Indians as well who work with multinational firms situated in Australia, Germany, USA, UK etc. They may also have faced such attacks, but many cases go unreported.

According to the Forbes about US$ 13 billion is spent by Indian students abroad annually. Australia alone has a US$ 15.5 billion business with foreign students and as many as one lakh Indian students study in Australia at present. Australian Universities and Colleges will suffer a heavy loss if such racially motivated criminal activities keep on rising. It’s time now for Australia to take India’s warning seriously otherwise this may lead to severe consequences which may not be good for Australians.

On the other hand there are a few Australians and Indians who have extended hands of friendship to each other. Indians and Australians have started interacting with each other on social networking sites and blogs in order to stop such activities and to maintain healthy relations.

Ritika you are talking rubbish. What the Aussie foreign minister has said is that "some of them have" been "racist in nature". Nobody has actually denied this ever. But, like I said, never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
.What the cases of Randjodh Singh and Jaspreet Singh exhibit, , is that any crime on an Indian is presumed to be racially motivated, even when there's no evidence that it is. When the evidence points to robbery being the motive, those details are simply just glossed over, or even just ignored. Never let the truth get in the way of telling a good story.
