Now let's try and see how this is in parallel to what is really happening in the deep interiors of our country. We 'civilized' humans find that the forest we have are very rich in some or the other natural resources.
Believe me, Avatar (yes, the movie) is a true story. It’s a social and economic truth of our society. Just that some science ‘masala’ and drama is added to the real story so that it sells. Let us see how.
What happens in the movie? The ‘civilized’ human beings try to conquer a region ‘Pandora’ which is rich in a mineral ‘unobtanium’ that costs 20 million dollar per kilograms. “Na’vi”, the indigenous population of that forest are related to their mother land and have a peculiar bond which in the movie is scientifically (the masala part) expressed by electro-chemical movements. The inhabitants “Na’vi” try to defend themselves and their region. They are helped by a Jake Sully and a couple of more humans. Now let’s try and see how this is in parallel to what is really happening in the deep interiors of our country. We ‘civilized’ humans find that the forest we have are very rich in some or the other natural resources. We try to get hold of these resources by uprooting the indigenous population i.e. the tribals.
These tribals too have a very strong bonding with the forests they live in. The forest is their god. They tame animals like anything. They have their own rituals, language, culture, faith and a whole value system. But, we “civilized” humans uproot them to get hold of those natural resources. At places they try and defend. These attempts are termed by us as anti-state activities. Sometimes few people from among us, the “civilized” ones, also start helping them. Oh! We tag them as Naxals. So Isn’t Avatar a real story? Does it not happen every day in the jungles of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and many more Indian states?
