Former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa surrendered in front of the sessions court judge today. Earlier, a special Lokayukta court today rejected bail plea of Yeddyurappa in two separate cases.
NOW ANOTHER big leader will be seen behind the bars in a corruption case. This time, it's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) heavyweight and former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa whose bail plea was rejected by a special Lokayukta court today in two separate cases, and the court issued an arrest warrant against him. In the history of Karnataka, this is the first time that an arrest warrant has been issued against a former chief minister. Yeddyurappa has been sent to judicial custody till October 22.

B S Yeddyurappa is accused in alleged irregularities in denotification of government land. Lokayukta special judge N K Sudhindra Rao sent former Karnataka minister S N Krishnaiah Setty to judicial custody till October 22, whereas Yeddyurappa's sons, B Y Raghavendra, MP, and B Y Vijendra, son-in-law Sohan Kumar and BJP MLA Hemachandra Sagar and ten others, however, got relief.
Yeddyurappa was not present in the court when the judge pronounced the order. After the rejection of Yeddyurappa's bail application, Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police reached the former CM's residence but they left Yeddyurappa's residence without him as the former CM was not at his residence. According to latest reports, Yeddyurappa reached the Lokayukta Court and surrendered in front of the sessions court judge.
B S Yeddyurappa, the first BJP Chief Minister in south India, quit his job on July 31 this year after the then Lokayukta Santosh Hegde recommended his trial for graft in illegal land mining scam. Earlier, in January this year, Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj sanctioned his prosecution under the Prevention of Corruption Act on criminal charges on the basis of a case filed by two Bangalore advocates Sirajin Bhasha and NK Balaraj.
