BA strike: Reasons, schedule, plan of action, latest updates
The British Airways cabin crew union, Unite, has announced fresh strike dates in its dispute with the airline. Cabin crew is going to walk out for four separate five day strikes in the next two months. The first strike will begin on May 18.

THE BRITISH Airways cabin crew union, Unite, has announced fresh strike dates in its dispute with the airline. The cabin crew is going to walk out for four separate five day strikes, in the next two months. The first strike will begin on  May 18 and end on May 22, which will be followed by the next three strikes, beginning on May 24,  May 30 and June 5.

The cause of the strike being the rejection of a fresh deal by the Unite for cabin crew earlier this month. The union sought to resolve the dispute over pay and working conditions. Details of the deal were not given, but Unite said that British Airways  had failed to restore the travel perks which were withdrawn  from staff  involved in the previous strikes in March.

This second wave of strikes involve nearly twelve thousand staff. However British Airways believes that Unite has needlessly rejected a very fair offer that also provided the best rewards for the crew.
The strike may prove problematic for British families going on holiday during the school half-term holiday and for soccer fans heading to South Africa for the start of the World Cup,

BA has ensured that all flights will run from London's Gatwick and City airports. The airline has been speaking to a number of carriers to lease in extra aircraft to support the  shorthaul schedule. It also plans to obtain thousands of seats from other airlines to help its  customers rebook in case the original flight is cancelled.
