The Bachelor finale 2010 may have been the biggest in show history. After all, The Bachelor finale followed one of the more contentious seasons in the show's history.
Most of that revolved around one finalist, Vienna Giraldi, who divided the fanbase like few others before her.
Yet Jake Pavelka saw past that to put her in the finals, against Tenley Molzahn. In the end, the final rose of The Bachelor finale did go to Vienna - who will get to cheer Jake on when he goes Dancing With the Stars.
Even if fan favorite, Ali Fedotowsky hadn't left the show to save her job, Bachelor Jake Pavelka says he is confident he still would have popped the question to Vienna Girardi. Pavelka, 32, said on ABC's Good Morning America that he is "sure" that things wouldn't have played out differently if Fedotowsky, 25, had stayed.
ABC put together a rather gigantic night of reality TV for the occasion. The traditional two-hour finale, and one hour "After The Final Rose" special aired back-to-back last night, and a lot was packed in. Not only would Jake make his choice, but the next Bachelorette would also be chosen, along with the next Dancing With the Stars lineup.
Girardi, 23, admitted "it was difficult to see him with Ali" on the show. "He had a connection with Ali."
She said she always viewed Fedotowsky and the other women as competition -- including Rozlyn Papa, who was booted from the show after having an alleged physical relationship with a male producer.
Somewhere in between all that, the 2010 Bachelor finale managed to select a new wife for Jake. Although many fans may not think that Vienna is good for him, she was more buzzworthy than Tenley. In the end, fans of high drama and a big story got what they wanted, as Vienna got the final rose and Jake Pavelka's hand.
Of course, the final rose is rarely the end of the story as past seasons proved.
However, The Bachelor finale did not have anyone getting dumped "After The Final Rose." Pavelka and Giraldi were still together, according to the episode - and will at least probably stay together until Dancing With the Stars ends.
The announcement of the Dancing With the Stars lineup on The Bachelor made sense at the end, when Pavelka was selected as a contestant. As such, the ABC cameras will follow him around for a little while longer - and Vienna will likely get some air time on Stars as well.
While the arguments over Jake and Vienna spread to Dancing With the Stars, The Bachelor finale 2010 also set up the other branch of the franchise. When The Bachelorette comes back, Ali Fedotowsky, who made the final four and quit over her Facebook job, will be the title character. Fedotowsky has until May 23 to settle her Facebook employment this time.
With The Bachelor finale 2010, the most talked about season in recent memory reaches an end. Since Pavelka made the most buzzworthy decision - and gets to go to another ABC hit - last night will lead the reality watercooler discussions for some time to come. ABC certainly won't have another packed night like this for a few more months, at least.
