COUNTRY'S LEADING two wheeler manufacturers Bajaj Auto is re-entering 100cc bike segment’s market. Bajaj left the segment some three years back to focus on above 150cc bikes.

The move according to industry insiders is inspired by the arch rival Hero Honda’s growing demand in the low cc bike segment. Hero Honda’s two low cc model-Splendor and Passion has been running successfully since more than 15 years, to give new look, these bikes have been introduced by new names time and again but basics have remained unchanged, such as Splendor Plus, Splendor Super and Passion Plus.

According to reports emanating from Bajaj Auto Industry, country’s top scooter manufacturer will launch its new 100cc bike in the market after three years in the forth coming week.

Reacting on the development, Bajaj Auto’s CEO for 2-wheeler business S Sridhar said, “Yes, we have decided to bring the Discover with a 100cc engine. The bike will give 100cc customers the brand experience of a Discover but at an affordable cost.”

S Sridhar further added that the new model 100cc Discover will offer several unmatched advantages to its riders, he said “The biggest benefit that the 100cc Discover will is a high fuel efficiency, way beyond any exiting 100cc bikes. Comprehensive road tests indicate a mileage of 80 kmpl under actual driving conditions.”

The highly fuel efficient low cc bikes are very much popular among middle class particularly those who are from semi urban and rural backgrounds as these are practically affordable in comparison to other bikes in higher cc segment.
