Bandwari treatment plant not working to its full capacity: MCG commissioner
Unhappy with the functioning of the plant, Dhaiya suggested that in the process of treatment of sewage and garbage from Gurgaon and Faridabad on daily basis, plant must take help and suggestions from the experts to control the pollution and proper treatment of waste.

WORRIED THAT the Bandwari Treatment plant, located on Gurgaon-Faridabad road wasn't working to its full capacity, Vijay Dhaiya, the recently-elected Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) commissioner on Wednesday, after an inspection said that the plant needed to better its performance to keep the city clean.

He observed the recycling process and saw how this garbage is used to make fertilizers, fuel and plastic balls, used for making tiles, etc. But commissioner showed his dissatisfaction after he found that workers there don't even keep a work register.

"I have asked them to deliver the log book by Monday. I need to see the log book to make an assessment of the plant's functioning. I should know about the number of workers and their timings and the plant's output," Dhaiya told the Hindustan Times.

Later, he organised a meeting with colleagues and other officers of the corporation and discussed with them the ways to increase the efficiency of the plant. He also asked the concerned officials to maintain a proper security at the plant so that 'Maruti like incidents are not repeated'.

Not happy with the functioning of the plant, Dhaiya suggested that in the process of treatment of sewage and garbage from Gurgaon and Faridabad on daily basis, plant must take help and suggestions from the experts to control the pollution and proper treatment of waste.

It was reported that because of delay in treating the waste, lot of garbage has got collected at the plant, creating an unhealthy environment. Expressing his dissatisfaction, Dhaiya instructed the officials to remove the garbage as soon as possible.

When told that because of regular power failure truck drivers have to wait for hours outside the plant, the commissioner said that efforts will be made towards a regular power supply.
