THIS RESTAURANT owner in Bangalore chanced upon a program on TV that offered gold plated pizzas and ice creams priced at $1000.That set him thinking about an Indian version and surprisingly he came up with the idea of gold plated dosas. Certainly costly at Rs 1011, but he takes proper care and cooks them in olive oil, uses mashed potatoes and adds the gold foil to top up the dish.
He has gone ahead and implemented it – and the ISO certified gold dosa has become a huge success. The city is Bangalore, the IT hub of the country – here, the money factor is not a major problem because IT sector pays good salaries and perks and all those involved are placed comfortably in the upper crust of society.
The restaurant has already experimented with silver dosas priced at Rs 151 each. The main thing is the novel concept - and hopefully, the owner would continue to give his customers more such innovative dishes.
