Bangalore reports first H1N1 death, toll reaches 20

This death takes the total swine flu death toll in the country to 20 even as Pune reported the death of young boy and a 75-year old woman today, August 13. Identified as Ritwik Kamle, the Pune boy was admitted in a serious condition at Pune's Sasson Hospital on Wednesday evening. He breathed his last this morning. Another victim of the H1N1, Bharti Goyal, died at the KEM hospital, taking the death toll in Pune to 12. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Nashik, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram reported one death each, while Mumbai witnessed two deaths due to the swine flu outbreak.

The total number of positive cases now stands at 1203, with patients turning up all across the country. Maharashtra is the worst-affected State with the maximum number of new cases being reported from Pune. The number of swine flu victims from the neighbouring State of Gujarat is also on the rise with 27 people having tested positive at last count.
