Bangladesh vows to support 1 million Rohingya Muslims
More than 500,000 Rohingya Muslims have migrated to Bangladesh since late August.

"If needed, we will eat a full meal once a day and share the rest with them," Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said. She also said that the Bangladesh government was pursuing a plan to build temporary shelters for the Rohingya Muslims on an island with the help of international agencies.

If you are asked what is your nationality then defiantly you can answer but Myanmar's Rohingyas would fail to answer this question. Neither only is Myanmar refusing to recognise them as an ethnic group but is also forcing them to leave Rakhine. Therefore, Rohingya Muslims are being rejected; their villages are being demolished by Myanmar's Army. Right now, neither they have adequate food to survive nor shelter. So, neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia become their only hope.

Myanmar is a Buddhist majority state wherein 90 per cent of the population of 53 million follow Buddhism. The minority population of 1.1 million is of Rohingya Muslims.  Although Myanmar government does not have any problem with the Muslim community but it has a problem with Rohingya Muslims.

Historically, Rohingya Muslims have existed since the 12th century in Rakhine state but their population started increasing from 1924 till 1948 while India, Bangladesh and Burma were under British rule. During the Second World War, while Japan started showing dominance over Burma, the British incepted moving a large number of Bengali Muslims to Burma to keep their legacy alive.

Now according to the new Citizenship Law 1982, only those who have been living in Myanmar prior to 1923 will be considered as citizens of Myanmar. So, based on new constitutional law, many Rohingya Muslims have turned out to be illegal citizens. Basically, this law was framed for specifically targeting Rohingyas because the community had put in its best efforts to merge with Pakistan after independence in 1947. And since then, Pakistan has had an influence over Rohingyas which was unacceptable for Myanmar.

Myanmar government and citizens always wanted to oust the Rohingyas from their state and that conation become stronger in 2012 when a group of Rohingyas raped a Buddhist girl. Thereafter, Myanmar's citizen and army started torturing them and since then, a firestorm has continued.

Now, Myanmar government has asked for "time and space" to solve the Rohingya refugee crisis. The Indian government has kept its mouth shut and instead beefed up border security. The reason behind it is that if India allows Rohingyas to step on its soil then its relationships with Myanmar will deteriorate sharply and India. Another problem is that some Pakistani terrorist groups have direct links with Rohingyas therefore; India will prefer to remain silent.
