BCCI most likely to press criminal charges against Lalit Modi
Following massive irregularities in the IPL Twenty20 league, Modi was suspended from his position as IPL's chairman soon after IPL 3 concluded. To further probe into the matters, BCCI had earlier set up a disciplinary committee.
THE BOARD of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is most likely to press criminal charges against deposed IPL Chairman Lalit Modi, next week. As per reports, BCCI might use Modi's receipt of $80 million he received in facilitation from WSG as one of the grounds for pressing charges.

Following massive irregularities in the IPL Twenty20 league, Modi was suspended from his position as IPL's chairman soon after IPL 3 concluded. To further probe into the matters, BCCI had earlier set up a disciplinary committee to look into the irregularities committed by Modi. Modi frequently had been avoiding the hearings citing security reasons. He evaded the hearings by claiming that there is a threat to his life from the underworld.

There are also allegations that BCCI's secretary and Chennai Super Kings' owner N Srinivasan had colluded with Modi to fix the selection of some players for the Chennai team. However, Srinivasan has denied the reports that he once tried to “fix” the auctioning of players during IPL 2009. In his defence, he asserted that he had won the bid “fair and square”.
