The home grown controversy has not gone down well with the sports lovers. Many leading sports bigwigs and organizations have slammed it for sidelining Asian Games. Some have even alleged that since money is not involved BCCI is not sending the Indian cricket team to Asian Games, which are held once in four years and BCCI only plays for money. As reported earlier the BCCI on June 1 refused to send cricket team for Asian Games, citing international commitments.
Senior sports administrator and Indian Olympic Association’s Secretary General fired a salvo on BCCI’s decision and said “I'm very, very disappointed because we were really keen to have cricket in multi-discipline events. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) worked really hard to get cricket included in the Asian Games but BCCI's decision is very disappointing".
Union Sports Minister MS Gill was not at all happy with BCCI’s decision. He raised questions on its packed schedule round the year and said "There are so many tournaments that the boys are simply too tired. Even race horses should be rested".

On BCCI’s take that it will be hosting New Zealand during November, when the Asian Games will take place in China, leading world boxer said "BCCI could have rescheduled the series to some other time because Asian Games is much bigger an event”.
Leading Billiard player Geet Sethi termed BCCI’s decision as “wrong”, he also raised fingers on modus operandi of BCCI, according to him "It is a wrong decision as it will deprive India of one gold medal. Those who are running the BCCI should not think commercially but instead should take into consideration the nation's pride”.
