US States Department has asked its citizens to remain alert and careful while travelling to India as terror groups are planning to strike in the country. The alert assumes significance on account of the recent arrest of David Coleman Headly.
UNITED STATES government has asked its citizens to remain alert and be careful, if they decide to travel to India. The US state department has issued the alert after it received intelligence inputs that terror groups were planning to carry out violent attacks in India.
A State department official said that the terrorists have shown the capability and willingness to carry out attacks against Western and US nationals. The travel alert will remain valid till January next year and urges the US citizens to practice good security principles, maintain low profile and show a heightened situational awareness. It also said that the Mumbai terror attacks in November clearly showed that hotels and other public places are also targets for the terror groups. The alert also asked the US nationals to keep an eye on the local news and take into account the security measures while visiting public places, hotels, restaurants and recreation places.
The alert assumes significance on account of the fact that FBI has arrested a US national David Coleman Headly, who is believed to be in close touch with LeT leaders to carry out terror attacks in India.
