Beating all odds: A success story - Part 2
"Everything is possible if you have the will." The quotation aptly applies to Dr Anita Ghai, a resident of Rajouri Garden and reader at a premier Delhi college, who despite being crippled by polio, defeated all obstacles to achieve her goals

MOST IMPORTANTLY, Dr Ghai is not only confined to the education and academic sectors, she leaves no stone unturned when it comes to the social causes and community services. Even though she is involved with a motley selection of social activities, working for the disabled is her topmost priority. Says Ghai, “The only motive of my life now is to help disabled persons. In an association with the All India Women Forum (AIWF), I often forward the issues related to handicapped to the government.

Besides, I also help in getting them every possible aid including artificial legs, calipers, rickshaws for disabled, etc. Moreover, I feel, disabled people are not fully aware of their rights. They should come forward.”

“Where there is a will, there is a way”, is the basic mantra of her life, which she follows and advises people to go by. “Don’t ask why, instead prove yourself, develop the capability to translate negative into positive. Compete with yourself to carry yourself forward, don’t lose patience, try your best to beat adverse situations, Never undermine and underestimate yourself.” These are a few mottos by which she suggests every individual should live by.
