Beautiful women handsome men age gracefully
Women care more for their looks and know all about the skin tonics and lotions that don't let wrinkles make an appearance on the face. What about the elbows, the knee joints and the dark circles below the eyes.
A WOMAN is as old as she looks. A man is as old as he feels. I have been hearing this for ages. generally speaking, we in the officers Mess bar were discouraged from discussing women, politics and religion; in other words anything that was likely to hurt anyone or cause an unpleasantness. In any case, at the bar counter one was likely to have one too many and one's remarks thereafter were not likely to be as balanced as was desireable. Possibly that was the reason why discussing women was a taboo, notwithstanding the interest they arous in men.
WHO AGES FASTER I shall not say that women age faster because someone would accuse me of gender bias. Shall I say men age faster. No, I shall not. It will not be the whole truth. Let us take the middle road and say that both men and women age in their own time depending on circumstances and mental make-up of the individual once he or she is on the wrong side of forties. Women care more for their looks and know all about the skin tonics and lotions that don't let wrinkles make an appearance on the face. What about the elbows, the knee joints and the dark circles below the eyes. Men may get pouches below the eyes if they keep late nights, night after night and patronise the bar even after the closing time. Lack of sleep reflects on the face of both men and women and wearing a make up may reveal more than it hides. Men reach a stage in life when they say, I don't care. Looks do not matter for men. It is the grey matter inside the head that matters most. A pot bellied man, who has made a lot of money may keep on looking at his bulging purse and pantaloon bursting at the seams due to excess flesh in the body that has not been cared for. Aging is a biological process that cannot be stopped completely. However, the aging process can certainly be slowed down. One may look young or feel young even after attaining the age of three scores and ten provided one cares for one's looks. Beauty is but skin deep - that one hears every now and then. It is not the whole truth, though. The glow on your face, the enthusiasm that you have for living life, the voice that makes people hear you and the graceful gait that stops people in the track - all go to make a man handsome and a woman beautiful. it is a totality about thought and action, diet and exercise, pleasant thought and ability to ignore the unpleasant that make you look pleasantly different. DIET AND EXERCISE Diet and exercise should go hand in hand to keep up the high spirits. It is an age-old saying that you are what you eat. Right at the beginning it should be emphasised that drinking a lot of fluid is highly recommended. Even if one is not thirsty, one should take some water or fruit juice every now and then. Our human body has seventy percent fluid and hydrating the body is always helpful. A health conscious man or woman would like to avoid dehydration at all costs. In summer, dehydration may be fatal. When you are making an endeavour to slow the aging process, you may not like to lose your life as such. One should eat whatever is good for the human body, eat only that much that the body needs and eat food stuff that has been bought with the hard earned money. Tainted food, unbalanced diet and eating for taste alone may not be conducive to good health. Unless the health is good, how will the aging process be slowed down. A word on vegetarian food versus non-vegetarian food. A man or a woman who is advancing in age will find it easier to digest vegetarian food. Non-vegetarian food, especially the red meat, leads to many complications. Leafy vegetables, salad, seasonal fruits and fibre food are highly recommended by dieticians. Mind is the Man. And here man includes a woman too. With a view to remaining healthy and in good cheer or high spirits, both body and mind play an important role. Like there is a healthy food for the body, there is a healthy food for the mind too. Spiritualism plays a role in keeping a human being mentally alert, healthy and happy. A man or a woman advancing in age should not think that he or she has played the innings and it is time one relaxed. Relaxation is fine but never slip into inertia. Have a light work schedule and when you leave the bed, have something to look forward to. Never let time hang heavy on your hand. One may set small objectives and then make an endeavour to achieve them. It will give a sense of fulfilment, a sense of joy and slow down the aging process. SHARING JOYS AND SORROWS OF LIFE Joys and sorrows of life should be shared with one's spouse. However, if a spouse is gone for ever, make friends with the like-minded people and share your thoughts with them. Going on a morning walk is helpful in keeping one young in body, mind and soul. A whiff of fresh air, oxygenated blood in your brain and heart would make you bounce like a ball. Remember to have pleasant company to age gracefully. Many a time it is loneliness that eats into your vitals and makes you look much older than your age. There are some pitfalls that an aging person should avoid, so that other people do not shun his company. To remain cheerful and age gracefully both men and women need human company. To have company the aging people should attract boys and girls or other men and women by taking them out for a movie or a dinner. Thus like you pay a baby-sitter, you may pay in kind to a senior citizen-sitter. Of course, care should be taken to select only those young men and women for company who are not cheats, gamblers, drunkards or potential killers. There are professional agencies that lend the services of young men and women for a consideration and they may be approached. The basic idea is not to feel lonely. Lonesome people get depressed and depression is one of the factors that make you look haggard and aged before time. Life is worth living. Enjoy life. Recite a Ved mantra praying for a healthy and happy life till when you turn a Centenarian with a feeling of a teenager. Bon voyage.
