The 75-year-old media magnate and Italy's Prime Minister Sylvio Berlusconi will no longer be part of the Italian political scene but Italians are overjoyed as he was the one who sent Italy into an economic crisis.
THE INFAMOUS Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi who ruled the roost for a good 17 years, finally bid adieu from the Italian political scene as he tendered his resignation to President Giorgio Napolitano. The move fuelled relief amongst people in Italy, and Italians, in unity, used cuss words against him apart from chanting hallelujah calls.
The 75-year-old media baron gained notoriety due to sex allegations, where it was alleged that he slept with an underage prostitute. He was also accused of sending Italy into one of its deepest financial crisis. When Italians suffered, Berlusconi was seen blowing up his money for his infamous night parties.
Succeeding Berlusconi will be a 68-year-old technocrat identified as Mario Monti. Monti is known for his strong anti-Berlusconi stand. Monti is expected to steer Italy out of its tumultuous times amidst various world leaders like Russian politician Vladimir Putin voicing their opinion that its high time the European Central Bank steps in to bail the tumbling economy out. Putin, the next presumed president hailed Berlusconi’s exit and of the Bank’s intervention, and that there would not be any catastrophic rise in inflation.
