Rowdy Rathore

The movie was directed by famous choreographer and director Prabhudeva and starres King of Action Akshay Kumar; this was a comeback movie for him. The leading lady was Sonakshi Sinha, and the plot of the movie was about a man who falls in love with a girl whom he meets at a wedding party where he is an uninvited guest. Then there is a twist in the story, which makes it even more interesting. This action cum drama movie collected Rs 131 crores on the box office.

Agneepath

The movie was a remake of the 1990 Amitabh Bachchan classic with the same name. Directed by Karan Malhotra, it was the first box office hit for this year. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra among others the film turned out to be a disappointment as it couldn’t live up to the expectations of fans. What probably worked with the mass was Katrina Kaif’s item number Chikni Chameli.

Housefull 2

Sajid Nadiadwala’s production planned an entirely different movie from its prequel. The lead actor Akshay Kumar was paired with Asin this time. The story revolves around the four pairs, where four sons-in-law marry four brides and the four fathers-in-law mistake the son-in-law for jolly. This movie was directed by Sajid Khan and was full of comedy.

Barfi

This movie stole the hearts of the viewers by some amazingly interesting subplots. The lead actors Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Iliana D'Cruz had done a fantastic job. The movie directed by Anurag Basu, basically deals with a sensitive love story. The movie was also nominated for Oscars but subsequently went out of the race.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan

This movie will be remembered as the last movie of 'King of romance', Yash Chopra. The movie is a typical Yash Raj style movie but it has many loose ends, but still stands in the race because of its romantic touch and soothing songs. This romantic Drama made a box office collection of Rs 122 crores.
