Beware of Christmas Depression - Causes and Cures
Christmas blues or depression over the holiday season is a common Christmas health concern. While some suffer a case of winter blues, other have social and financial problems. Many are also affected by the burden of planning a perfect Christmas.
THE UPCOMING Christmas time and the ensuent holiday season is enough to make people dream about joy and festivity, of spending time with their loved ones and relaxing as the hectic year comes to an end. It is a joyous occasion for everyone, but doctors warn that it may also herald depression.
 
A majority of those who suffer from sadder periods, report that they feel depressed the most around the holiday season. While the reason for this may vary - from winter blues as the climate changes, the landscape becomes bleaker and daylight becomes short in supply, to simple anxiety over social and financial reasons.
 
People have also been known to fall into depression over Christmas while taking pains to ensure a perfect holiday for their loved ones. These people literally take too many burdens on their shoulders - with work, family gatherings, shopping and parties.
 
If you are struck by this Christmas bout of depression, or know someone who is, then you can help yourself or them by keeping in mind simple things. Keep an eye on stress levels and know that it time for a time out from the tinsel and holly, if you start fretting too much!
 
Further, ensure that some personal time can be taken off from all Christmas worries, simply relaxing. Those burdened under Christmas plans should firmly ensure that their expectations remain realistic and that they take time to simply enjoy the holiday for what it is.
 
So, ensure that Christmas overall, helps your mental health and doesn't aggrevate it.
